Video: Connecting Dots

I don't have the most mathematical mind, but it's crazy to stop and think about the math that exists all around us.  Even seemingly simple doodles have amazing mathematical properties.

Doctor Who + Minecraft

I'm obviously an avid Doctor Who fan, and my husband has spent the last few weeks immersed in the world of Minecraft.  So when I saw this, I knew I had to share it.

A Fun Webcomic Featuring Death

I saw this on an awesome site, xkcd: A Webcomic of Romance, Sarcasm, Math, and Language, and couldn't help but laugh.  If you like this, head on over there for more!

Lesson learned: If you're going to challenge death to a game, choose wisely.

Yay Flexagons!

So, for those of you who didn't know, October is flexagon month.  In honor of this obscure celebration, here is a great video that shows how wonderful flexagons can be.  I also recommend you follow this video up with part 2 and the safety guide.  Links are provided at the end of each video, so you should have no trouble finding them.

Klingon Style Video

Here's a wonderfully ridiculous video.  My favorite part is the elevator scene.  My husband and I watched that scene over and over again, and we couldn't stop laughing!

Legos: Not Just For Kids

As a kid, I saw Legos as neat toys that were fun to play with.  Now as an adult, I'm realizing that they can do just about anything!

They can be used to repair a wall.

Taken from HERE.

They can be used to recreate a scene from a movie.

Taken from HERE.

They can even go into space!

Taken from HERE.

Seriously!  How cool can a bunch of little chunks of colored plastic be?  Too cool to express.  Simply too cool.

Star Wars and Escher, A Beautiful Pairing

It's being called "Nerd Nirvana."  This very well may be the case.  M. C. Escher is known all over the world for having created images that defied logic.  The impossible came to life before our eyes.  I grew up with an intense love for his works.

And now my love for Star Wars and Escher have been meshed into one glorious thing.  Click HERE to see it.

Now there's a little more beauty in the world.

Nerd Language

When you're dealing with geekdom, you must understand that there's a different language.  When dealing with a  group of people, or in this instance just two, who get into a conversation concerning geek culture, accept the fact that, as an outsider, you won't have a clue what's going on.

That's okay.

And if you have a burning need to understand, visit this page and click on Geek Therapy.  These experts will have you crossing that cultural barrier in no time.

Geeks and Nerds

The terms "geek" and "nerd" are often used interchangeably, though there's a definite difference in meaning.  I stumbled across this video on You Tube, and I feel like this really speaks to the issues that my husband and I find ourselves arguing about.  He loves computers and video games, while they confound me.  But hey, before you judge me, at least I like Star Wars!  If I didn't, I don't think my husband would have been able to look past that.  It's his favorite thing in the universe!

Anyway, enjoy.
